SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION

SEO (SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION)

What Is SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?
This is the process of increasing traffic to your website by ranking high in the organic search results of a search engine, for example google.com, yahoo.com and msn.com. The higher your website is placed on the results of a search, the greater the chance a user will visit your site and ultimately buy your goods or services.
How is your site ranked?

In order for a search engine to give users relevant search results, Algorithm’s are used. Algorithms are formulae that determine how a webpage will be ranked for certain search terms. In order for these Algorithms to work effectively, your website needs to comply with the rules they adopt and also allow search engines to crawl your site unhindered. Crawlers (Crawlers are also known as spiders) are programs created by Search Engines that collect information about websites and index them. The information collected by these spiders is then used to rank the websites. Search engines also assess your website by the number of quality links (not all links are good links) to your site, this invites the crawler to consider; “if lots of sites link to this site it must more relevant”.

The Proof is in the pudding

Below are recent screenshots showing the search results positions of one of our projects, World Travel portals. World Travel Portals is a site selling websites which are home-based business opportunities. ‘Work From Home’, ‘Home Based’, ‘Online Business Opportunities’, etc. are all relevant search terms for the product, however, the competition for these particular search terms is terrific. By using our SEO techniques we discovered that there was a much less competitive, and targeted search term available; ‘Turnkey Business Opportunity’. By optimising the website for this search term, our organic search engine positioning has jumped dramatically upwards. This translates into a big rise in highly targeted traffic visiting the site and converting into sales.
